About Me

Welcome to Hummingbird Postpartum, my name is Kirsten Acker-Hitta. I am a Postpartum Doula in the San Francisco Bay Area, providing support to all new parents.
I am very excited about providing parents with emotional, physical, and informational support as they navigate the postpartum period. I am looking forward to working with your family to support, educate and make this journey a little less scary. My passion for supporting new parents is evident in the care and attention I give to each family I work with. My warm and empathetic approach helps parents feel heard and understood as they navigate the ups and downs of postpartum life. Whether you're struggling with breastfeeding, feeling overwhelmed by the demands of new parenthood, or simply need a listening ear, I am here to help.

My journey in caring for others started as early as I can remember. My older sister was diagnosed with a rare disease called Frederichs Ataxia when I was 5 years old. This disease slowly takes away all mobile ability. This includes walking, her eye sight, the ability to feed herself, and leaving her completely dependent on others to take care of her. As her sister, I took great pride in helping care of her until her last breath in February of 2020. Caring for her and the strength she instilled in me plays a huge role in why I became a postpartum doula and why my brand is named Hummingbird Postpartum.

After my sister passed away, I was constantly surrounded by hummingbirds leading me to believe she is now soaring the skies as a hummingbird. The creation of Hummingbird Postpartum is dedicated to and in honor of my sister Kiela and her memory.

In addition to my work as a postpartum caregiver, I love spending my free time on the trail with my senior dog, Zeus. My love of nature and the outdoors is reflected in my approach to caregiving, as I believe that spending time in nature can be a powerful source of healing and renewal.
